Ce volume rassemble les travaux du premier colloque international de cartographie historique du Golfe Persique, qui s’est tenu a l’Universite de Teheran les 21 et 22 avril 2004, sous l’egide de l’Universite de Teheran et de l’Ecole Pratique des Hautes Etudes (Sorbonne). Les communications ici presentees questionnent plusieurs champs et objets de recherche: les representations du Golfe Persique et la toponymie de celui-ci en usage aux periode antique et medievale, les contextes historiques et les presences imperiales qui ont determine l’essor des cartographies europeennes de la region et la methodologie employee pour la selection des cartes.
