Mit diesem Band legen die Autoren eine Einfuhrung in die Diakonie als Praxis sozialen Helfens vor. Auf dem Hintergrund biblischer Grundlagen und kirchengeschichtlicher Entwicklungen erfolgt eine kritische Auseinandersetzung mit theologischen Begrundungen diakonischen Handelns. Die Autoren gehen von einer dezidiert schopfungstheologischen Position aus, die anerkennt, dass helfendes Handeln ein allgemein-menschliches Phanomen ist, das zwar zum christlichen Glauben gehort, aber keine christliche Spezialitat darstellt. Ein ausfuhrliches Kapitel widmet sich Aspekten diakonischer Ethik und bietet Orientierungspunkte fur helfendes Handeln heute. Dr. Heinz Ruegger MAE, Jahrgang 1953, ist wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter am Institut Neunmunster fur die Fachgebiete Theologie, Ethik und Gerontologie. Daneben ist er Seelsorger im Wohn- und Pflegehaus Magnolia, Zollikerberg. Christoph Sigrist, Dr. theol., Jahrgang 1963, ist Pfarrer am Grossmunster Zurich und Dozent fur Diakoniewissenschaft an der Theologischen Fakultat der Universitat Bern.
