Questo patrimonio di statuaria religiosa e di materiali tessili, generalmente considerato minore, riveste invece un notevole interesse antropologico, per il suo essere oggetto di culto e di devozione, talvolta anche molto intensa: le effigi da vestire sono tuttora, in molti casi, al centro delle celebrazioni religiose, vengono portate in processione, sono oggetto di vestizioni e di devozioni, pubbliche e private.
