English summary: What is contained in the term non-conceptuality comprises a series of theoretical and pragmatic means of comprehending reality, of which two in particular are focal points in this book: metaphor and myth. Metaphors and myths, as elements of non-conceptuality, are therefore fundamental in the imprinting of concepts and associated connotations in meaning as for variations in those concomitant concepts and connotation. The conceptual elements of a theory, which over the indirect course of non-conceptuality gains normative value, are also invariably guided by cultural and period-specific expectations and motives. The goals of this book are, on the one hand, to clarify the question of the causes of the normative influence of metaphorical mode of expression in the process of conceptualization and on the other hand to question the subtle semantic potential of each linguistically conventionalized pattern of thought, with which truths are woven or produced. Who looks behind the semantic veil of the suggested concept will observe that not everything that appears immediate to us is without blemish in its epistemological qualities, which likewise seem epistemologically legitimate. Selections from philosophers, such as Plato, Aristotle, Friedrich W. Nietzsche, Paul Ricoer and Hans Blumenberg, who have fleshed out a diagnosis of this conflict, including, are included in this volume. German description: Was unter den Terminus frq Unbegrifflichkeit flq zusammengefasst wird, umschliesst eine Reihe von theoretischen und pragmatischen Umgangsformen mit der Wirklichkeit, von denen insbesondere zwei im Buch bestimmt werden: die Metapher und der Mythos. Als Bestandteile des Unbegrifflichen sind Metaphern und Mythen sowohl fur die Pragung von Begriffen und der damit verbundenen Konnotationen von Bedeutung, als auch fur deren Wandel. Die begrifflichen Elemente einer Theorie, die uber den Umweg des Unbegrifflichen normative Geltung erlangen, sind stets auch von kultur- und epochenspezifischen Erwartungen und Motivationen geleitet. Das erklarte Ziel dieses Buches besteht darin einerseits die Frage nach den Ursachen fur den normierenden Einfluss metaphorischer Ausdrucksweisen im Prozess der Begriffsbildung zu klaren und andererseits das subtile semantische Potential jener sprachlich konventionalisierten Denkmuster zu hinterfragen, mit denen sich frq Wahrheiten flq erlugen oder erfinden lassen. Wer hinter den semantischen Schleier der vermeintlichen Begriffe schaut wird feststellen konnen, dass nicht alles, was uns unmittelbar einleuchtet, seiner epistemischen Qualitat nach ohne Makel ist und nicht alles, was epistemisch legitim erscheint, einleuchtet. Die ausgewahlten Philosophen, mit denen die Diagnosen dieser Auseinandersetzung erstellt werden, sind Platon, Aristoteles, Friedrich W. Nietzsche, Paul Ric oe ur und Hans Blumenberg.
