English summary: Theoretical analysis and theory-based comparisons of role models, organizational structures, discursive networks and the functional determination of the activities of intellectuals still remain a gap in contemporary historical research on the FRG. This volume provides new perspectives on research done on intellectuals. It focuses on the political and social upheaval of the 1960s and 1970s which has been increasingly discussed in a contemporary historical context in recent years. It mainly concentrates on shifts in the structure of political debates and on consistency in West German intellectual history.
