English summary: This book presents important works by father and sons, embedded in the various stations of their lives. The entrepreneurial talent is reflected in the wide variety of employers, from the early proponents of the Reformation, such as the Saxon princes, to Catholics like Cardinal Albrecht von Brandenburg. The Cranach workshop indicated its products with a depiction of a winged snake, which anticipated the modern trade mark. Especially in the portraits of Martin Luther, which the Wittenberg workshop produced between 1520 and 1546, the participation of the younger generation is well attested. The “friendship painting” of Luther and Melanchthon enabled some mention of Hans Cranch, who died early, while the images of the aged reformers is traced back to Lucan Cranach the Younger alone. Das Unternehmertalent spiegelt sich in den unterschiedlichsten Auftraggebern wider, die von Anhangern der Reformation wie den sachsischen Kurfursten bis hin zu Katholiken wie Kardinal Albrecht von Brandenburg reichen. Die Werkstatt kennzeichnete ihre Schopfungen mit einer geflugelten Schlange, die ein modernes Markenzeichen vorwegnahm. Dies erschwert bis heute die Zuordnung der Gemalde von Vater und Sohnen Cranach. Insbesondere an den Lutherportrats, die die Wittenberger Werkstatt zwischen 1520 und 1546 verlieaen, lasst sich die Beteiligung der jungeren Generation gut belegen. “Freundschaftsbilder” Luthers und Melanchthons durften dem fruh verstorbenen Hans Cranach zuzusprechen sein, wahrend der Typus des gealterten Reformators allein auf Lucas Cranach d. J. zuruckzufuhren ist.
