“Birgitt Hoffmann is to be commended for her wonderfully lucid and concise style which makes her book not only highly informative but also enjoyable. This is an essential reading for all scholars interested in religious endowments and their sociopolitic dimensions and/or in the history of Il-Khanid Iran and beyond.” Journal of Economic and Social History of the Orient “This admirable monograph deserves a place in the library of anyone concerned with the political, economic or social history of Mongol Iran or with the history of Iranian Islam.” School of Oriental and African Studies
