Der Band versammelt die Ergebnisse einer gemeinsamen Konferenz des Deutschen Nationalkomitees von ICOMOS (International Council on Monuments and Sites) und des Geisteswissenschaftlichen Zentrums Geschichte und Kultur Ostmitteleuropas an der Universitat Leipzig (GWZO). Er wendet sich an Stadtplaner und Architekten, Konservatoren und Restauratoren, Historiker und Kunstwissenschaftler, Kulturschaffende und Denkmalpolitiker.
