The present volume deals with the Atlantic as a space of traffic and transfer in the eighteenth century. Focusing on people, goods, texts and ideas crossing the ocean, European Enlightenment is shown here as inextricably linked with the transatlantic Other: it is in the Atlantic Space where internal contradictions of Enlightenment become visible.
