Die geplante und genormte Stadt ist ein allgegenwartiges Phanomen, jedem prasent in den “modernen” Hochhaus- und Plattenbausiedlungen, aber auch in der Gleichformigkeit von Reihenhausern und dorflichen Neubaugebieten – ein starker Gegensatz zu den verwinkelten Stadten des Mittelalters, wie etwa das Paradebeispiel Rothenburg ob der Tauber zeigt. Aber auch eine solche “gewachsene” Stadt war durch Normen gepragt, wenn auch nicht in ihrer Gesamtgestalt. Der vorliegende Band geht den Einflussen von Normen auf Stadte und den in Stadten entwickelten Normen in interdisziplinarer Vielfalt nach. Die zeitliche Perspektive reicht dabei vom hohen Mittelalter bis zu heutigen Fragen der Stadtentwicklung und Stadtplanung.
