Die “Romischen Historischen Mitteilungen” wurden von Leo Santifaller begrundet und erschienen erstmals 1958. Sie werden derzeit von Andreas Gottsmann, Direktor des Osterreichischen Historischen Instituts beim Osterreichischen Kulturforum in Rom, herausgegeben. Als Gastredakteur des 63. Bandes (2021) fungiert Martin Wagendorfer, Professor an der LMU Munchen. Schwerpunkte sind die Beitrage eines im Herbst 2017 am OHI Rom in Zusammenarbeit mit der Universitat Innsbruck veranstalteten Symposiums zum Ersten Romzug und zur Kaiserkronung Friedrichs III. (1452). Die Beitrage in deutscher und italienischer Sprache stammen von C. Martl, M. Wagendorfer, A. Hack, J. Schwarz, L. Madersbacher, A. Esposito, A. Modigliani und R. Pallotti. Abgerundet wird der Band von einem Aufsatz von A. Esser (Aachen) zur neutralitas im Alexandrinischen Schisma (1159-1177) sowie von einer Studie von A. Steingress uber diplomatische Berichte des Giorgio Brognolo (1482-1484). Zu allen Beitragen liegen Zusammenfassungen auf Englisch vor.
