English summary: In his dream vision, ‘Le Pelerinage de vie humaine’, a spiritual ‘pilgrimage through human life’ written between 1330 and 1331, the Cistercian monk Guillaume de Deguileville produced not only an ambitious rewriting of the famous’Roman de la Rose, but with his revision of the text (a good 25 years later) in the form of the so-called second version of the ‘Pelerinage’ as well as two Pelerinage’ sequels, he initiated an extraordinary tradition of extremely diverse re-textualization processes. With its mixture of contributions from Romance studies, German and Dutch studies, English studies and Medieval Latin philology, and based on a comparative perspective, this volume reveals key aspects concerning the text corpus of spiritual dream vision literature which was so successful from the late Middle Ages in Western European until the Early Modern Period.
