Taking Hispania as a case study, this volume provides an exhaustive introduction to Roman-Latin geography through authors such as Ennius, Caesar, Livy, Mela, Pliny, and Ptolemy, devoting particular attention to the exchanges and interactions of the Greek tradition with Roman geographical and administrative innovations. The volume demonstrates that any boundary that may be established between the two cultures in the field of historical geography is more rhetorical than real and that from this perspective, studies on Roman Hispania take on a new dimension.
