Born in 1894 in Tbilisi, Iliazd arrived in Paris in 1921 and died there in 1975. He was an art editor, an avant-garde poet and a writer. He was also a fabric designer, a ball organiser and an interpreter at the USSR embassy. His destiny bears witness to a generation marked by the 1917 revolution and the Cold War.
