The first posthumous publication devoted to Mimmo Jodice, revealing his rarely seen colour photography through a powerful dialogue with the masterpieces of the Tesoro di San Gennaro and the Neapolitan Baroque.

Published to accompany the exhibition at the Museo del Tesoro di San Gennaro, The Colour of Mimmo Jodice explores an extraordinary and little-known aspect of the celebrated Italian photographer’s work: his use of colour. Conceived as the first publication following Jodice’s passing, the volume is both a tribute to the artist and a critical reassessment of a remarkable body of photographs originally created in the 1980s for the exhibition Un secolo di furore at the Museo di Capodimonte.

Through his distinctive visual language, Jodice isolates details and fragments of seventeenth-century masterpieces, transforming them into images of striking formal beauty and emotional intensity. Installed in dialogue with the treasures of the Chapel of San Gennaro, the photographs create a compelling encounter between photography, Baroque art and contemporary vision. Richly illustrated and edited by Sylvain Bellenger, this exhibition catalogue offers new insights into Jodice’s artistic practice and is an essential publication for scholars, collectors and lovers of photography and Italian art.
