Der Band untersucht individuelle Fallgeschichten aus dem Bereich der Geschichte der Schwangerschaft und der diese einkreisenden und beobachtenden Diskurse, biografische Portrats aus der fruhen sich mit abweichenden Sexualitaten auseinandersetzenden europaischen Psychiatrie des 18. und 19. Jahrhunderts sowie weibliche Fall- und Portratgeschichten aus psychiatrischer und psychotherapeutischer Arbeit mit ihren sich verandernden Diagnosen.

“Fall – Portrat – Diagnose” (“Case – Portray – Diagnosis”) describes the approach to put case history, medical history and portray history in a relation to one another. Individual case narratives concerning the history of pregnancy and its discourses and narratives arouses the interest of history and sciences as well as biographical portrays of the early European psychiatric hospital of the 19th century which dealt with deviant sexualities. Even unaccommodating and literally-appealing case and portray narratives of psychiatric hospital patients in the beginning of the 20th century with their various documentation procedures, the changing relationship between doctors and patients and finally the controversial diagnosis and healing methods are being focused on in this issue.
