Since the sixties, we have witnessed the proliferation of literary forms which seek to harness reality by assembling documents. These “factographies” have created a literature of the “record”, which abandons narrative for the sake of alternative ways of writing the real. The thesis which this work is based on was awarded the Prix Louis-Forest from the Chancellerie des universites de Paris.

Review - French Depuis les annees 1960, les factographies, formes litteraires singulieres, emergent dans le paysage europeen et nord-americain. Ces compilations de notes prises sur le vif ou de documents preleves dans les archives se presentent comme des captations fragmentees du reel et des discours qui le constituent. Preferant les modeles du montage et de l'enregistrement a ceux de la composition litteraire, elles abandonnent la forme narrative au profit de techniques alternatives d'ecriture du reel et s'approprient certains questionnements caracteristiques de l'art contemporain pour produire des dispositifs destines a renouveler l'attitude des lecteurs face aux oeuvres, au monde et a l'histoire.
