Der Breisgau, der im Mittelalter auch das Markgraflerland und Teile des Hochrheins einschloss, gilt heute im Gegensatz zu den angrenzenden Regionen des Elsass und der Nordwestschweiz als ausgesprochen burgenarme Landschaft. Wie die bereits erschienenen Teilbande 1 und 2 des Projektes “Die Burgen im mittelalterlichen Breisgau” zeigen, ist diese Einschatzung jedoch zu revidieren. Mit dem dritten Band greift das Forscherteam um die Herausgeber Prof. Dr. Alfons Zettler (Dortmund) und Prof. Dr. Thomas Zotz (Freiburg) nun in den sudlichen Teil des mittelalterlichen Breisgaus aus und erarbeitete erstmals eine wissenschaftlich fundierte Erfassung samtlicher dortigen Burganlagen.
