This book establishes the triptych as a literary form that has evolved across European literatures since the advent of Modernism. Through studies of texts by Max Frisch, Tankred Dorst, Heiner Muller, W. G. Sebald, Esther Kinsky, and Claude Simon, the book demonstrates the manifold potentials and functions of this transmedial form between literature, theatre, and visual culture.

(Niklas Maak)—
