Wie berichtet das deutsche Fernsehen uber Afrika? Diese Untersuchung beleuchtet die Entwicklung der Afrikaberichterstattung am Beispiel der Tagesschau. Dabei betrachtet sie einen umfassenden Zeitraum von 1952 bis 2018. Im Zuge mehrstufiger Inhaltsanalysen wird gefragt, ob wirklich ausschliesslich Krisen, Kriege und Katastrophen thematisiert werden, uber welche Lander und Akteure berichtet wird, wer zu Wort kommt und welche visuellen Darstellungen und Frames das Afrikabild der wichtigsten deutschen Nachrichtensendung pragen. Die Studie zeigt zahlreiche langfristige Entwicklungen auf, identifiziert unterschiedliche Muster der Berichterstattung aus verschiedenen afrikanischen Staaten und ordnet diese Erkenntnisse ein.
