This volume provides evidence that the work of Adalbert Stifter is permeated by forms of violence and (Ver-)Fuhrung. The study shows that although Stifter’s texts are infused with attempts to appease violence, at the same time, they are often doing so by resorting to intertwined forms of leadership and seduction that themselves have violent traits.
