The studies gathered in this volume examine, from an interdisciplinary perspective, several unexplored issues of cultural mobility in the Middle Ages focusing on the Occitan-Catalan area.
This volume gathers 18 studies aimed at exploring and deepening an aspect of mobility in the Middle Ages that remains somewhat nebulous: the relationships between the geographical and physical routes traced and traveled by people and animals, and the paths traversed—whether materially or immaterially—by texts, books, artistic works, musical compositions, and literary, cultural, political, and artistic trends. To this end, the contributors have focused their research on a specific area considered particularly active, emblematic, and rich in exchanges: the Occitano-Catalan region. This region constitutes the core of the volume, serving as a point of departure, arrival, or dissemination for the phenomena and topics examined. Throughout the volume, the issues related to these particular aspects of mobility in the Occitano-Catalan region during the Middle Ages are approached in an interdisciplinary manner, thanks to the collaboration of specialists from various fields. Specifically, the subjects of the contributions fall within several disciplines, including history, literature, philology, musicology, social history, and art history.
