Questo volume raccoglie i contributi del convegno tenutosi nel Salone Borromini della Biblioteca Vallicelliana il 23 settembre 2021, dedicato al prezioso esemplare della Divina Commedia nell’edizione fiorentina del 1481 posseduto dall’istituto romano. La sua ricca e particolarissima decorazione cinquecentesca, volta a tradurre in immagini le figure retoriche o i piu famosi episodi del poema, e stata tradizionalmente attribuita ai Sangallo: un’assegnazione che, priva di appigli documentari, viene definitivamente sconfessata in queste pagine, in cui l’incunabolo e analizzato dal punto di vista storico, editoriale, paleografico, storico-artistico, iconografico e materiale. Un’importante occasione per conoscere e studiare un monumento della storia dell’editoria italiana in una versione decisamente sui generis, che fa dello Z79A della Biblioteca Vallicelliana un capolavoro librario di fascino indiscutibile.
