Frutto del lavoro di un gruppo di studiosi di diversa provenienza, questo volume contiene una descrizione degli incunaboli conservati a Monreale nella Biblioteca comunale “Santa Maria La Nuova” e nella Biblioteca del Seminario Arcivescovile “Ludovico II de Torres”. Il catalogo, preceduto da alcuni saggi dedicati alla storia delle due biblioteche e ai precedenti possessori degli esemplari, presenta una dettagliata descrizione di ciascun manufatto, elaborata secondo una metodologia mutuata dalla catalogazione dei manoscritti e intesa a identificare l’esemplare non solo come prodotto tipografico seriale, ma anche per i dati testuali e materiali che contiene e tramanda. Ogni esemplare, in tal modo, e considerato degno di interesse per la strada che ha percorso, dal luogo e dal momento della stampa sino alle attuali sedi di conservazione.
