The Manchu collection at the Saint Petersburg Branch of the Institute of Oriental Studies, Russian Academy of Sciences, is the largest holding outside China, with 989 call numbers of which 355 refer to manuscripts and 634 to blockprints. This new catalogue continues and completes the former two catalogues compiled by M.P. Volkova (published in Russian language, Moscow 1988), adding more than 400 new entries (both blockprints and manuscripts). It contains a historical and bibliographical introduction, several indices and concordances including Volkova’s catalogues, and 17 illustrations taken from the most signifi cant works.
