Collected works of Wilhelm Dilthey (1833-1911), a German historian, psychologist, sociologist and hermeneutic philosopher, who held Hegel’s Chair in Philosophy at the University of Berlin. As a polymathic philosopher, working in a modern research university, Dilthey’s research interests revolved around questions of scientific methodology, historical evidence, and history’s status as a science.
With volume XXVI, the almost hundred-year-old publishing history of Wilhelm Dilthey’s Collected Writings can be completed. While the early volumes of the series (I-XII), which were still managed by Dilthey’s students, could rely on published works that were at times complemented by handwritten supplements, the newer works published since 1970 relied heavily on decoding, performed by the Bochumer (Germany) Dilthey Research Society, of handwritten notes left with the estate. German text.
