Twelve meditations with pictorial and verbal stimuli. Meditations to conjure up inner images and memories, to draw comfort and to open up to a new horizon.

Images trigger associations. External stimuli raise internal images and can establish links to the hidden and inaccessible. Experiences, emotions and special impressions can be activated for healing. Images as a careful challenge – to shout out, unlock, question and invite. Klaus Seiler takes on this challenge with twelve “Spiritual Moments”. The author inspires with pictorial stimuli, biblical quotations and stories a meditation cycle which is spread across the year. The images cover different aspects. Four sculptures by Ernst Barlach set the tone in the first part. They are not analysed on an art-historical basis but seen as mirror of experience. A second cycle are snapshots of Jerusalem at Passiontide. An attempt to intertwine Jesus’ Passion and our stories and way in life. Four images of the cycle of the year give impulse for ancient questions: Where do we stem from and where does humankind go? A dialogue on various levels is established as each image and each meditation takes reference in either a biblical verse, story or music.Seiler elaborates his ideas on devotional meditation and uses pictorial and verbal stimuli as ways of accessing emotions and experiences and dealing with them.
