Une ancienne tradition a longtemps fait croire que ce qui etait appele chez l’homme, suivant le cas, l’Esprit, la Pensee, ou l’Intelligence, venait d’un autre monde. Aujourd’hui, meme dans les milieux spiritualistes, certains reconnaissent que ces structures viennent directement du cerveau et sont issues de sa matiere. Cette opinion tient aux travaux des neurologues et des primatiologues. Ces derniers ont vu qu’il y avait des ebauches d’intelligence chez les singes superieurs. Ceci n’empeche pas de penser que cette structure impalpable pourrait etre d’une autre nature que la matiere, la biologie n’a pas fini de nous donner tous ses secrets.
