Jackie Pigeaud was taught at Universite de Nantes before becoming a member of Institut universitaire de France. An antiquary and specialist on medical thought, he has published numerous works, including La Maladie de l’ame (reprinted by Les Belles Lettres, 2006), L’Art et le Vivant (Gallimard, 1995) and Poesie du corps (Payot-Rivages, 1999).
