This volume collects interdisciplinary contributions to research the depiction, transmission, and interpretation of catastrophes. Topics discussed range from case studies in historical pictorial invention during the European Renaissance to the study of contemporary media phenomena, such as the international coverage of 21st-century catastrophes.
