Apres la conquete du Milanais en septembre 1499, de nombreux Francais, impliques dans les campagnes militaires et faisant partie de la suite de Louis XII ou charges d’un office dans l’administration du Duche, sejournent en Lombardie occupee. Au-dela des repercussions politiques et administratives, cette presence etrangere semble avoir joue un impact sur la production artistique locale. Le present ouvrage, qui procede d’un colloque organise a l’Universite de Geneve les 30 et 31 mars 2012, se focalise sur l’activite de ces commanditaires francais, de Charles II d’Amboise aux rois Louis XII et Francois Ier, mais aussi des francophiles, comme Bernardino Lopez de Carvajal, Sebastiano Ferrero ou Gian Giacomo Trivulzio. En abordant differents domaines tels que l’architecture, la sculpture, l’enluminure et la peinture, notamment Leonard de Vinci et son cercle, le present volume vise a comprendre la portee de leurs commandes et leur influence sur les choix iconographiques et techniques de certains artistes, par exemple Bramantino, Zenale et Bernardino de Conti. Il cherche aussi a definir leur role dans la presence d’artistes d’Italie septentrionale en France et a s’interroger sur l’ascendant du modele lombard sur les artistes francais.
