Die Arbeit zeigt darum durch das gesamte oeuvre, wie Platons Interesse an dem Philosophiebegriff in Auseinandersetzung mit traditionellen Auffassungen wachst und sich ausdifferenziert. Das philosophische Gesprach, das philosophische Leben, der philosophische Eros, der philosophische Tod und die philosophische Erkenntnis bilden systematische Aspekte, unter denen das Philosophieverstandnis einzelner Dialoge erarbeitet wird.

English summary: Often, when studying Plato, a selective understanding of philosophy is applied that does not do justice to the complexity of the term in the Platonic oeuvre. Consequently, this volume demonstrates how throughout the oeuvre Plato’s interest in the notion of philosophy grows and becomes more differentiated as he discusses traditional views. Philosophical dialogues, philosophical life, philosophical eros, philosophical death and philosophical knowledge form systematic aspects under which the philosophical understanding of individual dialogues is explored. The guiding principle is shown to be an intentional dynamic “from here to there” – a metaphor that is often encountered in Plato’s work to describe place, movement and goal of philosophy. Moreover, there is always a practical dimension in Plato’s philosophical reflections that is expressed in the question concerning the good life and brings about a process of change in the person philosophising.German description: Oftmals wird in der Beschaftigung mit Platon ein selektives Philosophieverstandnis zugrunde gelegt, das der Komplexitat des Begriffs im platonischen Werk nicht gerecht wird. Als Leitmotiv lasst sich eine intentionale Dynamik von hier nach dort nachweisen – eine Metapher, die sich ofter im platonischen Werk findet, um Ort, Bewegung und Ziel der Philosophie zu beschreiben. Zudem hat die philosophische Reflexion bei Platon stets eine praktische Dimension, die sich in der Frage nach dem guten Leben aussert und den Philosophierenden einem Veranderungsprozess unterzieht.
