Pilgerreisen nach Jerusalem und Palastina fanden das gesamte Mittelalter hindurch statt. Im 14. und 15. Jahrhundert jedoch kam es zu einer besonderen Blutezeit, und aus dieser Zeit sind auch die meisten Pilgerberichte uberliefert. Hier wird die kritische Edition des Berichts von Wilhelm Tzewers/Textoris vorgelegt, der seine Reise im Jahr 1477/78 und das Heilige Land beschreibt. Sie umfasst den lateinischen Originaltext, eine deutsche Ubersetzung und einen ausfuhrlichen Sachkommentar. Letzterer untersucht die Quellen des Berichts, identifiziert die erwahnten Orte und Gebaude und spurt der Entwicklung der Traditionen der heiligen Statten Palastinas nach. Diese exemplarische Analyse ist angesichts des Mangels an verlasslichen Textausgaben und Quellenstudien auch fur die Beschaftigung mit anderen zeitgenossischen Texten aufschlussreich.
