English summary: Human beings live in spaces-from the caves of the Stone Age to built architectures and the digital worlds of the present. The space that surrounds people is perceived and shaped by them: spaces are thus an expression of social and cultural change. This also creates states of being in between. This always results in states of being in between. How and where do these manifest themselves in architectural space? How do people deal with the in-between spaces in which they find themselves? And how do artists translate their ideas of this into an image? The contributions to this volume deal with various forms of in-between: the strategies of Nigerian migrants on their way to Europe, the spatial structures in parish churches in south-eastern England in the 15th and 16th centuries, the suburban in the works of Camille Pissarro, and much more.
