English summary: This book contains more than 50 selected examples of Roman antiquities from the region around Heidelberg particularly those stone objects now held by the Kurpfalz Museum in Heidelberg. This book offers a number of color illustrations of a variety of stone finds, including altars and consecrated objects, “four gods” stones, military and civilian grave stones, sculptures and reliefs, imperial edicts and architectural remains. German description: Das Kurpfalzische Museum in Heidelberg besitzt eine exquisite Sammlung romischer Steinmonumente. Mehr als 50 ausgewahlte Exponate werden in dem vorliegenden, mit zahlreichen Farbabbildungen illustrierten Band vorgestellt. Das Interesse an den Heidelberger Altertumern erwachte mit den Gelehrten des Humanismus und der Auffindung mehrerer romischer Steindenkmaler im Jahr 1533. Die Entdeckung des ‘Neuenheimer Mithrasreliefs’ markiert 1838 den Beginn der Heidelberger Romerforschung. Seitdem werden immer wieder steinerne Zeugnisse der hier stationierten romischen Einheiten und der zivilen Bevolkerung ausgegraben. Die Sammlung umfasst Altare und Weihungen, Viergottersteine, militarische und zivile Grabsteine, Plastiken und Reliefs, Kaiserinschriften und Architekturteile. Darunter die ‘Jupitergigantensaule des Mes. Iblio’ aus dem spaten 2. Jahrhundert, das ‘Stiertotungsrelief aus Mithraum I’, der ‘Grabstein des Neckarsueben Respectus’ oder der monumentale Grabpfeiler aus Heidelberg-Rohrbach.
