Der Naumburger Dom St. Peter und Paul, seit dem 1. Juli 2018 eingetragenes UNESCO-Weltkulturerbe, gehort zu den herausragenden Sakralbauten des europaischen Mittelalters. Der Domneubau begann um 1210 und fand gegen 1320 mit der Verlangerung des Ostchores seinen Abschluss. Weltberuhmt ist der um 1240/50 geschaffene Westchor mit seinen uberraschend lebensnah dargestellten Stifterfiguren. Als Zentrum der Domfreiheit wird die Kathedrale von einem bemerkenswerten authentischen Ensemble von Kurien und Kapellen umgeben.
