ISD works with independent bookstores, national chains, online retailers, museum stores, university bookstores, wholesalers, and other trade accounts throughout North America.
Opening a Trade Account
We welcome new trade accounts.
Established booksellers may apply for trade credit, while new accounts may be asked to prepay their initial order before standard credit terms are extended. Purchase orders may be submitted by email, fax, or standard mail and our customer service team is always happy to provide pricing, availability, and title information.

Discounts
Trade discounts are available to qualified booksellers and wholesalers. Discount levels vary by publisher and product and are reflected on quotations and invoices.
Shipping
Orders are shipped from our warehouse in Bristol, Connecticut.
- Orders within the United States are typically shipped via UPS.
- Canadian orders are generally shipped via UPS, with postal service available upon request.
- International orders outside North America are shipped via postal services and generally arrive within 4-6 weeks.
Shipping charges apply to all orders. Customers may also provide their own UPS or FedEx account number for collect shipments where appropriate.
Returns
We strive to make returns as straightforward as possible.
- Damaged or defective items should be reported promptly after receipt.
- Overstock returns are accepted within our standard return eligibility period, provided books are in saleable condition and accompanied by the original invoice information.
- Credit is issued toward future purchases.
- Return shipping costs are the responsibility of the customer unless the return is the result of an ISD error.
Books that are damaged, unsaleable, or otherwise fall outside our returns policy may be refused or returned at the customer’s expense.
Payment
We accept payment by check, bank transfer, and major credit cards, including Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express. Checks should be made payable to ISD.
Shipping charges apply to all orders. Applicable sales tax or GST will be charged where required by law.
