English summary: Material culture as a research topic is currently receiving increasing attention in numerous cultural studies disciplines. The questions are not only focussed on the object and its material form, but also on the contexts, on the perception of our material environment and on the different ways of dealing with everyday and non-everyday objects. The introduction shows the different approaches and research strands and explains the common foundations in relation to the object of research and methods. German description: Materielle Kultur als Forschungsthema erfahrt in zahlreichen kulturwissenschaftlichen Disziplinen derzeit wachsende Aufmerksamkeit. Die Fragen richten sich dabei nicht nur auf das Objekt und seine materielle Form, sondern auch auf die Kontexte, auf die Wahrnehmung unserer materiellen Umwelt und auf die unterschiedlichen Umgangsweisen mit alltaglichen und ausseralltaglichen Dingen. Die Einfuhrung zeigt die verschiedenen Ansatze und Forschungsstrange auf und erlautert die gemeinsamen Grundlagen in Bezug auf Forschungsgegenstand und Methoden.
