This volume presents the unabridged and annotated edition of more than 1000 annotations as well as four small drawings left by Boccaccio in the margins of Josephus Flavius’ Antiquitates Iudaicae in the manuscript Plut. 66.1 preserved at the Biblioteca Medicea Laurenziana in Florence. The text is a codex in Benevento script produced at Monte Cassino in the 11th century, containing the original text in a “Cassiodorean” Latin translation. The work is preceded by an introductory study that provides a description of the manuscript, addresses the problem of dating and attributing notes and drawings, organizes all of Boccaccio’s contributions by type and illustrates the editorial criteria adopted.
