As Goethe said, the definition of a genius is his posthumous productivity. The year 2011 marked the 50th anniversary of the death of the French philosopher Maurice Merleau-Ponty, but the productivity of his oeuvre and his legacy has never been greater. This volume contains French text.

Dans son cours du College de France sur L’Institution , Merleau-Ponty avait rappele, pour l’appliquer precisement a l’institution comme telle, la definition du genie proposee par Goethe: une productivite posthume . Or, si en 2011, il y a desormais cinquante ans que la voix du philosophe francais s’est tue, jamais sans doute la productivite de son oeuvre et de sa pensee n’a ete aussi manifeste. De ce point de vue, il n’y a donc pas a se plaindre de ce que Merleau-Ponty est devenu, a sa (belle) maniere, un philosophe institutionnel : c’est le trait le plus clair de son genie.
