Der Landschaftsgarnter erstellte 1961 einen Plan: Der sah eine pflegeleichte Bepflanzung vor mit lauter grunen Strauchern, keine Blumen, kein Obst, keine Wiese und kein Platz zum Spielen. Das einzig Schone daran war der Plan fur eine grosse Terrasse mit Westsonne und Sichtschutz zwischen Garage und Nordwand des Gartens. – Nun, als ich den Plan (sehr teuer, mit den vielen Cotoneaster und Nadelholzern und keinem einzigen Beerenstrauch) gesehen hatte, sagte ich ihm, dass dies uberhaupt nicht meine Gartenvorstellung sein konnte und dass er fur den Plan das Honorar, aber keinesfalls den Auftrag bekame. Und diese Entscheidung hab ich noch nie bereut! Inzwischen sind 40 Jahre vergangen und wir haben einen Garten fur uns und die Kinder und die Feste gehabt, fur unendlich viele Blumenstrausse, fur Abende mit dem Buch unter dem hohen Abendhimmel mit den ersten Sternen unterm Gesang der Amseln und dem raschelnden Kasimir zwischen den Haselnussstrauchern – und mit dem inzwischen in die Wolken reichenden grossen Ahornbaum und der Birke vom Nachbarn.
